Aaron Blabey’s children’s book series have achieved great success: Pig the Pug, a picture book series about a rude, selfish, and mean-spirited little dog; The Bad Guys, a New York Times #1 bestselling graphic novel series for young readers; and Thelma the Unicorn, a second picture book series about a plain little pony who pretends to be a unicorn.
As of December 2021, around 30 million copies of Blabey’s books were in print, and they appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List for more than 120 weeks. On July 3, 2019, The Bad Guys first topped the chart.
Sam Rockwell, Awkwafina, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, and Anthony Ramos starred in the DreamWorks Animation adaption of The Bad Guys, which had its U.S. premiere on April 22, 2022. Along with Patrick Hughes and Etan Cohen, Blabey worked as an executive producer on the film.
In May 2019, it was revealed that Netflix was creating a musical film version of Thelma the Unicorn, with Blabey serving as executive producer once more.
He also worked as an actress up to 2005. He is arguably best known for his major appearances in two television comedies, The Damnation of Harvey McHugh (1994), for which he received an Australian Film Institute Award, and CrashBurn (2003),[1] before quitting acting in 2005.
