Leighton Meester Background
Leighton Meester was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Constance Lynn (née Haas) and Douglas Jay Meester. Her mother writes, and her father is an estate agent. She has two brothers, Douglas Logan Meester, an older brother, and Alexander “Lex” Meester, a younger brother. Douglas Logan Meester was born in 1983.
Meester’s parents were imprisoned at the time of her birth for their part in a drug cartel that smuggled marijuana into the country from Jamaica. Before going back to prison to serve out the remainder of her sentence, Constance was able to nurse Leighton for three months in a halfway house.
Meester was raised during this time by her paternal grandparents. She has insisted that she had a typical upbringing from her parents and, despite their criminal past, has said, “It made me realize that you can’t judge anyone—especially your parents—for what they’ve done in their past, because people change.”
She spent her formative years acting in plays at the neighborhood playhouse in Marco Island, Florida. In 1992, her parents divorced.
Leighton Meester Education
Leighton Meester enrolled at the Professional Children’s School and started modeling for Wilhelmina, landing a Ralph Lauren campaign shot by Bruce Weber and working with Sofia Coppola, who was a photographer at the time.
She moved to Los Angeles at the age of 14, where she attended Hollywood and Beverly Hills High Schools. Meester later changed schools to a small private school and received her diploma an extra year early.
Leighton Meester Career
Leighton Meester made her acting debut in 1999 as Alyssa Turner, a murder victim’s acquaintance, in a Law & Order episode. After that, she made her film debut in the 2003 movie Hangman’s Curse, which was adapted from Frank Peretti’s best-selling novel. In Tarzan, a show that aired for just eight episodes, she played a series regular role. In 2004 and 2005, she was cast in recurring roles as Carrie Bishop in Veronica Mars and Justine Chapin in Entourage. In the television shows Crossing Jordan, 8 Simple Rules, 7th Heaven, and 24 Meester secured guest starring parts. She was given the role of Savannah Barnett, a series regular in Surface.
Meester made two movie appearances in 2006: Flourish and Inside. Additionally, she appeared as a guest star in an episode of Numbers and played Ali Johnson, a teenage girl who has a love on Gregory House, in two episodes of House. After that, she appeared in Shark and CSI: Miami as a guest star before playing the female lead in the horror movie Drive-Thru and recording the song “Inside the Black” for it. Meester was cast in the ABC crime thriller series Secrets of a Small Town as identical twin sisters Kayla and Kelly Rhodes, but the network decided not to forward the project.
Meester agreed to serve as the ambassador for Herbal Essences hair care products in 2010. Alongside Isabella Rossellini and Maribel Verd, she participated in Bulgari’s charitable work for the Save the Children charity in the same year. She then starred in a beauty advertisement for the Korean company eSpoir. Meester was chosen by Vera Wang in 2011 to represent the perfume Lovestruck, with the designer claiming that Meester’s “beauty, talent, and enthusiasm will inspire all the young women who I hope will adore this passionate, new young fragrance.” The following year, Meester filmed a commercial for the replacement scent, Lovestruck Floral Rush. Meester was selected as the face of Missoni’s spring/summer 2011 advertising campaign in Italy.
Meester announced a five-city tour with Check in the Dark through Twitter in April 2012. The tour began on May 29 and ended on June 4, 2012. She said she “liked” her previous pop collaborations but thought folk music was “a lot closer to [her] heart.” She provided support for the All Stars campaign for the Philippine clothing company Penshoppe in May 2012. Meester claimed the band and they had completed recording the songs for an album that functioned as a demo in June.
She then acted with Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, and Milo Ventimiglia in the comedy movie That’s My Boy, which was released in June 2012. The movie garnered mostly unfavorable reviews, was nominated for eight Golden Raspberry Awards[69], and failed at the box office, earning less than $58 million and falling short of covering its $70 million production cost. Meester, Wilmer Valderrama, and Vanessa Curry all had appearances in The Nomads’ “Addicted to Love” music video from August 2012.
Due to schedule conflicts, she was unable to repeat her part as Carrie Bishop in the movie Veronica Mars. Twin Sister singer Andrea Estella took her place. Meester was named as Biotherm’s new global ambassador in October 2013 by the French brand.
Leighton Meester Family
Leighton Meester and her mother Constance filed litigation against one another in July 2011 over Meester’s financial assistance of their younger brother Alexander, who suffers from a number of medical issues.
In Meester’s lawsuit, it was alleged that her mother bought hair extensions and botox using the money she received from her. In her mother’s lawsuit, there was a counterclaim for contract breach and physical abuse. Constance asserted that a verbal agreement existed whereby Meester promised US$10,000 per month as opposed to the US$7,500 she actually received. As compensation for “sacrificing her personal happiness” by relocating Meester to Los Angeles as a young child to pursue acting, her mother asserted that she was entitled to a higher quantity of money. The judge denied this claim in court.
Constance charged her daughter with faking a report of abuse of Alexander and contacted social services; Meester was questioned by detectives who found no basis for the complaint. Constance withdrew her $3 million damage claim against her daughter in November 2011.
Meester stated that she would be ready to cover her brother’s school fees and medical costs, but she refuted the claim that she had agreed to pay US$10,000 each month, calling it “ridiculous.” On December 7, 2011, Meester got a default judgment.
Meester prevailed in court in June 2012, and the judge dismissed the allegations in her mother’s countersuit.
Leighton Meester Husband
Leighton Meester met actor Adam Brody in March 2010 while filming The Oranges, and they were engaged in November 2013. On February 15, 2014, a secret wedding ceremony was held for the pair.
On August 4, 2015, a daughter, their first child, was born. It was made public that the couple was expecting their second child in April 2020. Brody said that their son, the couple’s second child, was born in September 2020.
American actor, writer, singer, and producer Adam Jared Brody is also a producer. He gained notoriety for his breakout performance as Seth Cohen in the 2003 season premiere of the Fox television series The O.C.
