Bob Ansett is the son of Reg (Order of the British Empire) and Grace Ansett. He was born on August 8th, 1933. Reg Ansett was the proprietor of a number of companies, including Ansett Transport Industries, Diners Club Australia, Ansett Australia Airlines, and much later, Avis Australia.
When Bob Ansett was 7-8 years old, in 1941, his parents separated. Bob soon immigrated to America along with his mother Grace and brother John. Ansett was raised in the state of Alaska in the United States; he has stated that in the 20 years he spent there, he only had five encounters with his father; their relationship appeared to have been damaged by the distance between their homes.
