    Orlando Bloom Background

Orlando Bloom, who was born on January 13, 1977, in Canterbury, Kent. Orlando Gibbons, an English composer from the 16th century, was his inspiration.

At first, Bloom thought that the South African-born anti-apartheid author Harry Bloom (1913–1981), who passed away when Bloom was just four years old, was his biological father. But when Bloom was thirteen, his mother told him that his real father was Colin Stone, a family acquaintance and partner of his mother. After Harry Bloom passed away, Stone, the head of Concorde International Language School, was appointed Orlando Bloom’s legal guardian.

    Orlando Bloom Education

Orlando Bloom was raised in a Church of England home. Prior to enrolling at St. Edmund’s School Canterbury, he first attended St. Peter’s Methodist Primary School and then The King’s School junior school.

Due to his dyslexia, Bloom’s mother urged him to enroll in art and drama school. He traveled to London in 1993 to enroll in a two-year A-Level degree in drama, photography, and sculpture at Fine Arts College, Hampstead after being inspired to play by his school prize submission to panto actor Richard Sieben in 1992.

After two seasons with the National Youth Theatre, he was given a scholarship to study drama at the British American Drama Academy. Before enrolling in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he studied acting, Bloom made his acting debut on television in episodes of Casualty and Midsomer Murders.

He then made his film debut in Wilde (1997), costarring Stephen Fry.

    Orlando Bloom Career

In the 1997 movie Wilde, Bloom made his on-screen debut in a little role as a rent boy. He was given his first significant job, playing Legolas in the Lord of the Rings film series, two days after graduating from Guildhall in 1999. (2001–2003).

Originally, he had gone in for an audition for the role of Faramir, who doesn’t appear until the second film, but Peter Jackson hired him as Legolas. He cracked a rib while filming a scene after falling off a horse, but he finally recovered and carried on. At the same time, Bloom appeared briefly as PFC Todd Blackburn in Ridley Scott’s combat drama Black Hawk Down. He was selected as one of Teen People’s “25 Hottest Stars Under 25” in 2002, and in the 2004 issue of the magazine, People called him the hottest bachelor in Hollywood. Three years in a row saw every member of the Rings ensemble nominated for Best Ensemble Acting at the Screen Actors Guild Awards; the third film, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, brought home the prize in 2003. Along with being nominated for and winning numerous additional honors, Bloom has also received recognition from the European Film Awards, Hollywood Festival Award, Empire Awards, and Teen Choice Awards. As a member of an ensemble cast, Bloom has had the most of his box office achievements.

After that, Bloom starred in the summer 2003 blockbuster hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl alongside Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp. Following the success of Pirates, Bloom next appeared in the 2004 Spring blockbuster Troy alongside Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, and Peter O’Toole as Paris, the man who inadvertently kicked off the Trojan War. He then played the lead roles in Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown and Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven (both 2005).

In 2006, Bloom starred in the independently produced film Haven and the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel Dead Man’s Chest, for which he also served as executive producer. In the same year, Bloom appeared as one of the guest stars on the sitcom Extras, in which he played an overly conceited, narcissistic version of himself who had a strong dislike for Johnny Depp (his Pirates of the Caribbean co-star); Bloom pushed Extras to go further by making his part unlikeable, and he contributed to the joke about him admiring Depp out of pure jealousy because Depp was significantly more talented than he was, not to mention rated Bloom was the most popular male on Google News in 2006 as well. Bloom had roles in four of the top 15 highest-grossing movies of all time as of May 2007.

After that, Bloom reprised his role as Will Turner in the 24 May 2007 film Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Bloom had intended to pursue a career as a stage actor. Bloom had previously stated that he would like to transition from acting in films to stage roles for a while, and that he is “avidly looking for the right sort of material that [he] can do something with” and “go back to basics.” He had an appearance in a London version of David Storey’s play In Celebration over the summer of 2007.

On August 24, 2007, he appeared in his first-ever TV ad for Shiseido’s Uno cosmetics line on late-night Japanese television. The product’s marketing campaign began with a 2-minute “one night only” version of the sci-fi-themed advertisement. He agreed to participate in 2008’s British film An Education in a supporting capacity but left to accept the lead in Johnnie To’s Red Circle. He was one of many celebrities that showed up in the 2009 film New York, I Love You, which combined 12 short films into one.

Orlando Bloom starred alongside Milla Jovovich, Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Juno Temple, and Christoph Waltz in the 2011 film The Three Musketeers. Peter Jackson’s three-part prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, saw Bloom reprising his role as Legolas in parts two and three.
